School begins Monday, August 23, 8 AM!

The first day will be an early dismissal at 11:30am. No aftercare on this day, aftercare will begin the following day, August 24!

On Thursday, August 26 from 5 pm- 7:30pm, SMA will host Meet the Teacher Night, for all grade K-8.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to meet your little one's new teacher and gather all important information for the coming year!

We have been very busy over the summer months, preparing new classrooms, hiring new staff and making our school spic-and-span for the start of the 2010-2011 academic year!

Our PreK and Kindergarten students are in for a real treat when they return! Thanks to artists James Beck and Margaret Wilkins (and some very helpful ND volunteers) their classrooms have been transformed! More pictures to come!

Stop by on Thursday, August 19 from 5-6:30pm in the SMA parking lot and enjoy and evening with your SMA family! Mingle with old friends, favorite teachers, meet the new staff, new families and new friends! A great way to kick-off the start of an exciting school year!! Hope to see you all there!

Summertime Lemonade Sales and Car Washes to raise $3,000 for Dance Program!

Attention Students and Parents! CDI is coming BACK to SMA, but we need your help!

CDI is a not-for-profit arts education organization that brings dance to Chicago's youth. Through in-school partnerships, residencies, and public performances, CDI operates as a catalyst to engage children and motivate them towards excellence. It is founded with the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children, while developing a standard of discipline, confidence, and expression.

In order to cover the costs and expenses for a CDI residency next November, we need to raise $3,000 before October 1. We can do this! CDI is expanding next year, from 2nd-7th grade, and we are asking for your help over the summer months so that we can meet our goal.

We have scheduled Bake (and Lemonade) Sales and Car Washes throughout the summer months. We are asking that students and parents sign-up to help on weekends that they are available so that our students do not miss the AMAZING opportunity to work with CDI once again. Look over the schedule and let Ms. Elise know when you are available to pitch in. Join us for one, or all!

St. Mary of the Angels School will be offering French lessons to our 3 and 4 year old PreK students. Classes will begin in January and will be from 11:30-12:30 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
