SMA has started it's first running club! Our teachers, Ms. Hansbrough, Ms. Lee, Ms. McCartney, Mrs. Murphy, & Ms. Walsh are spearheading the first Running Club at SMAS. Nearly 40 students from 1st-6th Grades run Tuesdays and Thursdays each week within the Bucktown neighborhood.

The 1st and 2nd Grades have 17 students running with Ms. McCartney, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Lee, & Ms. Walsh on Tuesdays. The children succeeded in running around the block twice! One of the students, Danny Gomez, boasted, “I beat Ms. Walsh twice!” 20 students from 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grades run every Thursday. Last week these students ran a ½ mile! Ana Guixa-Hantke stated, “I had so much fun yesterday!”

The Running Club boosts confidence, self-esteem, and healthy exercise. Each week the children push themselves to meet new goals. It is wonderful to see the smiles on all the children’s faces, especially when they have accomplished their goal of crossing the finish line!

Spring Soccer is in full-swing. Your coach reminds you...

THIS SATURDAY, May 8
SMA Soccer plays at our soccer pitch. Please arrive early if you need a uniform. All players, all ability level, play full games. A great way to spend a Saturday morning.
Kickoff: 8am sharp * 1650 N. Ashland
